Sweetgrass basket weaver Kisha Kinard will discuss the history of one of America’s oldest crafts of African origin, passed down from generation to generation.
Kisha started learning to make sweetgrass baskets at the age of 8 at the knees of her mother, grandmother, and many aunts that lived nearby in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Today, she and her family carry on the tradition of making and selling their baskets.
This event is free and open to the public.
