Pender County Public Library in Burgaw is hosting a special meeting of the Cape Fear Revolutionary Round Table from Wilmington and Southport on Wednesday evening, August 22. Dr. Chris E. Fonvielle, Jr. will be speaking about the Battle of Moores Creek and the public is welcomed. Sign-in begins at 6:30pm and the program begins at 7:00pm.

Dr. Fonvielle, now a retired professor of history from UNC-W, is an esteemed historian, author and popular speaker. He has been writing a fresh history of the Battle of Moores Creek enriched by new research and perspectives. Dr. Fonvielle has long been active in historical associations, including on the board of the Moores Creek Battleground Association. His upcoming book will be the first major history of the battle written in many years.

The Cape Fear Revolutionary Round Table is composed of men and women interested in the American Revolution with emphasis on NC and the Cape Fear region. They sponsor speaker series and organize tours of historical sites for their members, sometimes of places not open to the general public.

Membership is open to all and the normal $5 attendance fee for non-members will be waived for this special meeting in Pender County in association with the public library. Anyone interested in Revolutionary War history is invited to join.
